End Point Assessment (EPA) was a new initiative added to the portfolio of services provided by TWI Certification Ltd (TWI CL) in January 2019. End Point Assessment is the final test a learner takes as part of the apprenticeship to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and behavior in their chosen level of welding. TWI CL is a UKAS accredited organisation, approved by the Education and Skills Funding Agency to conduct End Point Assessment for General Welder Level 2, Multi Positional Welder Level 3, Plate & Pipe Welder Level 3 and Metal Fabricator Level 3 – our most recent addition.
TWI CL boasts a highly skilled and experienced team of welding assessors, who have worked with the industry for a number of years, beginning their own careers on 4 year apprenticeship qualifications in Fabrication & Welding. Their industry background and extensive experience gives them greater insight and understanding of what is required from the learner and the training providers prospective. EPA is important to the Industry; ensuring learners gain the quality experience of learning whilst working in their chosen welding discipline and individual environments.
The EPA is typically conducted at the training provider or the learners company premises ensuring the learner is both familiar and comfortable with their surroundings and the equipment as is necessary for the practical elements of the assessments to be conducted. The global COVID-19 pandemic has proved a testing time for the Industry, but throughout TWI CL has continued to advise and conduct End Point Assessments, following the guidance issued by the various Government Departments and appropriate Risk Assessments.
TWI CL are registered with Ace360 management system, which helps with the administration and security of EPA requirements for those training providers also registered.
“TWI CL offers the full package”
In addition to EPA, our highly skilled team, of approved CSWIP Welding Examiners, are able to provide 3rd party Welding Procedure Qualification Records & Welder Performance Qualification (WPQR/WPQ), CSWIP Welder Examination and 3.2 material certification services in accordance with BS EN 10204.
Our approved CSWIP Welding Examiners will visit your organisation, witness any welding related activity and gather all of the necessary data for you to attain the relevant certification. Following the examination, the various NDT Reports and UKAS accredited laboratory reports are sent to us, we can usually provide certification within 3-5 days following receipt of all (compliant) testing data.
TWI CL are able to remove the administrative burden of documentation by offering bespoke services and tailored packages in respect of producing Welding Procedure Qualification Records / Procedure Qualification Records (WPQRs/PQRs). Our CSWIP Welding Examiners will collect all site data, and once all NDT and Mechanical testing has been satisfactorily completed the test data will be evaluated by TWI Welding Engineers who will produce the associated WPQR certification package and endorse it, leaving you to focus your energy on other areas of your business.
Our CSWIP Welding Examiners can independently witness and verify welder(s) testing for processes following a detailed written instruction to produce a test piece (usually in the form of a Preliminary Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) for a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS).
To enable qualification or coding to a National, European or Internationally recognised standard. The Test Pieces must be subject to one or both of the following:
NDT by ISO 9712 qualified personnel using level 3 approved procedures
Mechanical testing by a UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory
What are clients have to say about us
“Please thank Matt for a really informative day on Thursday, I think the learners actually got a lot from the assessment process and we are really pleased to see they have passed with good marks.”
“Thanks for this a great result and some very positive comments regarding the assessor who put students at ease and made it a positive experience for them”
“Great service and well formatted certificates! Cheers”
“Just a quick email, to provide some feedback on the recently qualified welding procedures.
We are very happy with the service provided by Paul George and Matt Holtby. They were very easy to work with and provided useful technical advice throughout the project.
The lead time on the welding procedure development was a bit longer than originally anticipated, however, we are obviously aware that the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact and also required us to move the location of the procedure testing. Paul and Matt were very helpful in dealing with this impact and were able to arrange a new location for the procedures to be undertaken.
Due to the excellent service provided we plan to continue using TWI for future welding procedure qualifications.”
